Academic Policies

Part A.

 

1. ADMISSION

All Best Link students in the various program offerings are admitted after passing the following pre-qualification procedures:

For new students
  1. Duly accomplished application form
  2. Original Copy of Form 138
  3. Certificate of Good Moral Character
  4. 2 copies of 1×1 colored photos
  5. Satisfactory results of the entrance examinations
For transferees
  1. Duly accomplished application form
  2. Certificate of Honorable Dismissal from the school last attended.
  3. Original Copy of Official Transcript of Records from the school last attended.
  4. 2 copies of 1 x 1 colored photos
  5. Satisfactory results of the entrance examinations

 

2. COURSE SEQUENCES AND SEMESTRAL SCHEDULES

The courses are being offered on a regular semestral basis and the subjects are offered based on a logical coherence. The scheduling was done to allow students to have enough time to grasp the ideas / concepts and for parents / guardians / students to be able to prepare financially.

 

3. NON-SUBSTITUTION AND VALIDATION

Units earned from other schools and colleges may be considered as satisfactory compliance with the Best Link curriculum provided that there are correspondences between the courses sought to be validated with those of the Best Link curriculum, subject to validation and evaluation of the registrar. In no case will units validated from other schools exceed twelve units of the degree requirements.

 

4. FRESHMEN ORIENTATION

To introduce the freshmen to Best Link Institute, its mission and vision, the faculty, the programs and the services including rules and regulations, a freshmen orientation session is scheduled before the start of the classes. All new students are required to attend this session. Failure to attend this orientation may affect the student’s standing.

 

5. REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

Registration and enrollment procedures follow two activities: the pre-enrollment and enrollment proper. The registrar issues guidelines for both activities that spell out the procedures for enrollment. Enrollment is done by priorities determined by the registrar.

 

Part B.


1. STUDY LOADS

Each of the two-year course being offered require a total number of units to complete. A specific course can be completed within 4 semesters.

 

2. CHANGE OF SUBJECTS AND LOADS

Change of subjects or loads is allowed only within the first two weeks of classes upon approval of the Registrar.

 

3. OFFICIAL CLASS LISTS

Official class lists are usually issued to the faculty member to check the enrollees in his or her class. Students are advised to attend their correct classes to avoid records problems.

2. Tuition and other fees paid in full will enjoy a 10% discount on the Tuition Fee only (discount will not be applied with the miscellaneous fees.).

Part C.

 

1. GRADING SYSTEMS

Rationale: Best Link aims and commits to enhance the quality of graduates with basic/advance and technical skills with a passion for excellence. The grading system is a critical component of this objective as it provides a mechanism for assessing quality performance of both students and instructors; student’s performance as a test of his absorptive capability on the one hand and faculty performance as a test of his knowledge and pedagogical skill on the other.

 

The quality point index (QPI) must adhere to the following criteria:

Uniformity – enhances easy implementation and diminishes variability of practice.
Coherence – provides logical explanation for grades obtained by students.
Fairness – provides justice and equity of grades deserved by students.
Objectivity – depends of verifiable, objective measurement data and not mainly from the faculty’s personal value judgement.

  1. The Final Subject Grade is obtained from the following periodical grades:
25% - Preliminary Grade
25% - Midterm Grade
25% - Pre-final Grade
25% - Final Grade
  1. The Periodical Grade is obtain from the following components:
15% - Class Participation
15% - Quizzes
35% - Laboratory activities/seatwork/grp.work
35% - Periodical Exams
  1. The numerical and non-numerical grading systems is adopted with the following remarks:

1.25 95 – 99% Excellent
1.50 90 – 94% Remarkable
1.75 85 – 89% Very Good
2.00 80 – 84% Good
2.25 75 – 79% Average
2.50 70 – 74% Satisfactory
2.75 65 – 69% Fair
3.00 60 – 64% Passed
4.00 55 – 59% Conditioned
5.00 < 55% Failed

Incomplete grades incurred in a particular term should be completed within a period of one academic year from the time it is incurred. Failure to complete the requirement/s within that period will replace the incomplete grades automatically be a falling grade of 5.0.

 

Part D.

 

1. RULES ON ATTENDANCE

    1. All students are required to attend their classes regularly and punctually.
    2. A student late for 15 minutes shall be considered absent for the first hour.
    3. The maximum allowable number of absences of a student per subject per semester is not more than 20% of the number of class hours scheduled for the subject.  A student shall be considered dropped from the subject after incurring absences in excess of 20%.
    4. An excused absence is limited to the following cases:

a. Student has severe illness or accident as certified by the attending physician.

b. Death of close relative ( i.e. parents, brother, sister, spouse, child, or grandparents.)

  1. Suspension of Classes

a. Classes are automatically suspended when typhoon signal no.2 is declared in Metro Manila.

b. Classes are suspended when the Department of Education declares no classes in tertiary level within Metro Manila.

c. The School President have the sole authority to suspend classes when the Department of Education give tertiary schools the discretion to suspend classes in their own schools.
